Brickell vs. South of Fifth: Two Sides of Miami Living

One of the things I love about Miami is how much the lifestyle can change from one neighborhood to the next. Brickell and South of Fifth are only a few miles apart, but they offer two completely different ways to experience the city.

🏙️ Brickell

Think mini Manhattan with palm trees.

Brickell has that true city energy, with high-rise buildings, rooftop restaurants, coffee shops, workout studios, shopping, offices, and people constantly out and about. But it’s still unmistakably Miami, with sunshine, waterfront views, resort-style pools, and palm trees mixed into the skyline.

It’s also one of Miami’s major business and financial hubs, which adds another layer to the neighborhood. Between its corporate presence, international community, luxury condo market, and continued development, Brickell attracts everyone from young professionals and entrepreneurs to investors and international buyers.

One of Brickell’s biggest selling points is convenience. You can walk downstairs and have almost everything you need within a few blocks. Brickell City Centre, Mary Brickell Village, restaurants, gyms, bars, cafés, offices, and everyday essentials are all right there.

There’s a very social, international feel to Brickell. It’s fast-paced, polished, and always evolving, which is a huge part of what makes the neighborhood so appealing.

Living in the center of it all means there’s almost always something happening around you. For someone who loves that energy and wants the city right outside their front door, Brickell is hard to beat.

The vibe: High-rise views, business meetings, rooftop dinners, coffee runs, workout classes, happy hours, shopping, and always having somewhere to go.

You’ll probably love Brickell if: You want a true city lifestyle, love being able to walk everywhere, or want to be close to Miami’s growing business and financial scene. It’s also a neighborhood worth looking at for buyers and investors drawn to Miami’s international market and high-rise lifestyle.

🌊 South of Fifth

South of Fifth, or SoFi, is a completely different version of Miami.

Located at the southern tip of Miami Beach, the neighborhood has a more coastal, residential feel while still putting you in the middle of some of the best that Miami Beach has to offer.

Here, walkability looks a little different. You can walk to the beach in the morning, grab coffee, head through South Pointe Park, bike along the water, stop by the marina, and walk to dinner that night. It still feels social and connected, but the ocean and outdoor lifestyle are much more a part of your everyday routine.

And the dining scene is a major part of the lifestyle. South of Fifth is home to world-class restaurants and some of Miami Beach’s most iconic dining destinations, all tucked into a neighborhood where you can walk from dinner to the waterfront or back home.

SoFi is also home to some of Miami Beach’s most sought-after residential buildings, giving the neighborhood a distinctly luxury feel without losing that laid-back element that comes with living by the beach.

And while South of Fifth has its own distinct neighborhood feel, it’s still just across the bridge from Brickell and Downtown Miami, giving you easy access to the energy of the mainland while coming home to the Miami Beach lifestyle.

The vibe: Beach mornings, South Pointe walks, bikes, boats, world-class dining, ocean views, and that classic Miami Beach lifestyle.

You’ll probably love South of Fifth if: You want the beach to be part of your everyday life, love being outside, appreciate incredible dining, and want walkability with a more coastal, luxury neighborhood feel.
